Here comes the 2014 Shore to Shore
MANSON — As of early August, planning for the Sept. 6 Lake Chelan Shore to Shore Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10K is coming along nicely.
Here are a few updates:
— Online registration continues through Sept. 4. There is a limited window for in-person registration the following day (4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5) at Vin du Lac Winery in Chelan — the site of our packet pickup. Please note there is no day-of-race registration.
— We have some great goodies and extras this year. Vin du Lac Winery, our packet pickup location from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, is offering a $20 pre-race dinner. Click here for the menu. To reserve a spot at dinner, please call (509) 682-2882.
— Vin du Lac also is selling bottles of wine and other items to Shore to Shore participants during the weekend at 10 percent off. All you have to do is show your race bib number to get the discount.
— In addition, a free lift ticket from Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort will be inside every 15th bag. And finally, in the finish area at the race, Iron Horse Brewery will have a beer garden for all participants 21 years and older.
— We are still in need of a few volunteers for the race. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Deb Miller at email@example.com. Those who do so receive a free entry to one of our upcoming races and a cool shirt.
— Tim Chandonnet is the official race photographer for this year’s Shore to Shore. Race photos will be available for purchase afterwards. Here is more on Tim: http://timcphoto.blogspot.com/
— For the first time in the history of Shore to Shore, runners will be chip timed. This improvement was made after several runners in our 2013 race survey requested the change. It also fits nicely our distinction as the last Boston Marathon qualifier in the Pacific Northwest. We also will giving out custom medals to all finishers who registered before Sept. 1, technical shirts from Greenlayer to all who registered before Aug. 20, and bottles of wine as prizes to winners in all three races. All runners get a shuttle ride to their respective starting spots, fully stocked aid stations and post-race food and refreshments.
We can’t wait to see everyone at the lake!
