Energy drinks and gels set

CHELAN — Runners participating in the Sept. 7 Lake Chelan Shore to Shore Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10K will find Hammer Gel, Gatorade G2 drink and water at stations along the route, race organizers have announced.

“Each of the stations along the route will be fully stocked and staffed to provide the best in runner support,” race director Joel Rhyner said.

The event will have 16 stations, staggered approximately every 2 miles. Each will be staffed by volunteers.

The event, presented by the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, will be celebrating its 12th year on Sept. 7. RunWenatchee, which organizes and directs Shore to Shore, is expecting a record turnout this year.

The marathon, half-marathon and 10K are all point-to-point courses, with participants being bused from Manson out to the starting points. The marathon begins just past Fields Point Landing on the lake’s south shore, the half-marathon starts near Karma Vineyards on the south shore, and the 10K begins at the Chelan Shores Development on the north shore. All three races end on Pedoi Street adjacent to Manson Bay Park.

Besides the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, sponsors include Vin du Lac Winery, Devil’s Gulch Drinkery, North Cascades National Bank, Cashmere Valley Bank, Icicle Broadcasting, Mill Bay Casino, Project Groundwork, Crunch-Pak, and the Eugene Marathon.
